Helen B. Polk

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  for Mrs. Helen B. Polk, 70, the former Helen Benjamin at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Edward Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Ronald Broussard celebrant.

She will await the resurrection at St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be on  Monday, at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a rosary recited at 9 a.m.

 A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Polk passed on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Iberia Medical Center. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic  Church of New Iberia. Helen was  also a 1959 graduate of Jonas Henderson High School.

 She leaves in God’s care her two daughters, Karen Ann Polk and Jessica Ann Polk of New Iberia; one  brother, Earl Francis; two sisters, Lucy Mae Butler (Edward  Sr.) and Euella Lewis (Harlen) all of New Iberia; six  grandchildren, Tyler R. Polk, Taylore R. Polk, Tylan R. Polk, Trey R. Polk, Noah J. Polk, and Allie J. Polk; and a  host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Polk now joins in glory with her husband of 42 years, Jesse “Su-Su” Polk; parents, Joseph Benjamin and Lydia Evans Benjamin; sister, Alice Thomas; two  brothers, Elias Francis and Edward Francis Sr. two nephews,  Kevin Butler and Dwayne Benjamin, and two nieces, Caroline Lewis and Stephanie Butler.

 The family would like to send special thanks to: Iberia Medical Center; Iberia Rehab Hospital; FMC; Heart of Hospice; Iberia Manor South; Dr. Darwin Hales; Dr. Harrington, Dr. Gerald Sigue; Dr. Lamourche; Dr. Stien; Dr. Angela Langlanais; Dr. Frederick Hall and Dr. Ozar.

Active Pallbearers will be, Tyler R. Polk,  Edward Butler, Jr., David Butler, Richard Nickerson, Michael  Benjamin, and Joseph Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Francis,  Edward Butler, Sr., Harlen Lewis, Wilson ’Poochie”  Livingston, Woodrow W. Broussard, Harold Livingston, Douglas  Polk, Lawrence Polk, Woodrow W. Polk, Jr., Roger Polk, J.B.  Broussard, Steven Butler, Earl Thomas, Gilbert Thomas, Sr.,  Cornelius Robertson and Raymond Broussard.
