A Home Going Celebration service will be held for Pastor Edward L. “Te-Te” Tauriac Sr., 69, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2011, at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church, New Iberia, with Rev. Adam Stevens officiating.
He will await the resurrection at St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery, Cade.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church Cade and resume on Saturday 8 a.m. until time of services at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church, New Iberia.
Rev. Tauriac gave his life to Christ at an early age. He began ministering for Christ at the age of 35. In 1982, he became the pastor of St. Mark Baptist Church in Cade and for the past 10 years the pastor of New Zion Baptist Church located in New Iberia. He succumbed to a brief illness and took the early morning train home to meet his Creator on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
He leaves in God’s care eight sons Dedric Tauriac of Atlanta, David Tauriac (Biancia) of College Park, Ga., Edward Tauriac Jr. and John Adam Tauriac of Morrow, Ga., Brian Bell and Patrick Bell, Anthony Lubin (Katrina) of Lake Charles and Mickey Johnson of New Iberia; two daughters Troyonna Moreaux of Grayson, Ga., and Iona Tauriac of Jonesboro, Ga.; two brothers Horace Lewis and Richard Lewis of New Iberia; one sister Nettie Tauriac Dale (Billy) of Lake Charles; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and the flock at St. Mark Baptist Church and New Zion Baptist Church whom he loved and who loved him.
He now joins in glory with his parents, Arthur Tauriac Sr.; four brothers Arthur Tauriac Jr., John Tauriac, Wilfred Tauriac and Marvin Meyers; maternal grandparents, Joe Lewis and Mary Taylor; paternal grandparents, Joseph Tauriac and Elizabeth Derouen Tauriac.
Active pallbearers will be Uhara Lewis, Dytania Johnson, Lawrence Thompson, Devor Simon, James Oppenheimer Truman Volter and Lawrence Tauriac.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Tauriac, John Tauriac, Richard Lewis, Cephus White and Henry Butler.
