Armond Schwing: Why I am running for Senate District 22

Who I am: Armond Schwing, 45, is a resident of New Iberia.   He didn’t decide on his party affiliation for political gain – he’s been a Republican since he first registered to vote.

He is vice-president of Schwing Insurance Agency, Inc., where he works in his family’s business alongside his father and brother.

Schwing has long been involved in community service.  He is a graduate of Catholic High, attended LSU and received a degree in finance from Auburn University.  He is married to Jennifer Marks Schwing and has three children ages 14, 12 and 7.

Why I am running:

I entered this race to give the voters the opportunity to break from the political establishment and elect someone new with fresh ideas.  Having never before run for public office, I owe no one any political favors nor am I aligned with any political machine.  My ideas, principals and integrity will not be comprised for my own personal gain.  It is my intention to address the issues with common sense and work to change the political environment in which we live.

It is obvious that the size of State Government is too big and it’s time that we try a new approach by electing someone willing to take a stand to make our Great State a better place for everyone.  Louisiana has too many wonderful natural resources and too many positive attributes to consistently be ranked at the bottom of every good list and at the top of every bad one!

I am a true fiscal conservative with principles that I feel will serve our district best and bring positive change to the way things have always been done.  I believe in smaller government and greater fiscal responsibility with more local decision making.  That belief is rooted in my upbringing.  It is something that has not and will not change with the political winds.
