uneral services are scheduled for Lou Ida Butler, 70, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ananias Bourgeois officiating.

She will await the resurrection at Zion Travelers Baptist Church Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of services.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, she passed at 2:40 a.m. Friday at her residence following a brief illness.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons Nathaniel James Lee and Whitney Paul Lee Jr. of New Iberia and Thaddeus Jerome Lee of Houston; four daughters Yvette B. Walker, Elaine M. Butler, Verna Lee and Latasha B. Washington all of New Iberia; a special sister Celie Henry Batiste of New Iberia; 26 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Lloyd Butler and Leonard Gibson; her husbands, Janis Butler Sr. and Whitney Lee Sr.; a son Janis Butler Jr.; two brothers Willie Gibson and Randolph Roberts; and one sister Maude Boutte.

Active pallbearers will be Nathaniel James Lee, Whitney Lee Jr., Thaddeus Lee, Gregory Spencer, MacArthur Spencer and Christopher Butler.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Hardin, Eldridge Butler, Alfred Martin, Larry Collins, Neville Collins, Kentori Lee, Leslie J. Tibbitt and Tamant T. Tibbitt.
