A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Iris D. Brooks, 72, the former Iris Dauphiney, at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011, at St. Edward Catholic Church, New Iberia, with Msgr. Ronald Broussard celebrant.

She will await the resurrection at Mount Olive Baptist Church No. 1 Cemetery, Freetown.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Monday at the funeral home from 7 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. with a rosary recited at 9 a.m.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Brooks passed on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Iberia Medical Center. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, New Iberia.

She leaves in God’s care her five sons Carrol Brooks Sr. (Sandra), Gregory Brooks, Curtis Brooks Sr. (Jennifer) of New Iberia, Michael Brooks Sr. Christopher Brooks Sr. (Rori) and of Lafayette; one daughter Sharon Williams (Chad) of New Iberia; two sisters Margaret Williams and Mary Ann Polite of New Iberia; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She now joins in glory with her husband, Cornelius Brooks Sr.; one son Cornelius Brooks Jr.; her parents, Batiste Dauphiney and Stella Brown Dauphiney; one daughter-in-law Bridgette Brooks.

Active pallbearers will be Carrol Brooks, Michael Brooks Jr., Marcus Brooks, Christopher Brooks Jr., Toris Brooks, Curtis Brooks Jr. and Gregory Brooks Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carrol Brooks Sr., Gregory Brooks, Curtis Brooks Sr., Michael Brooks Sr., Christopher Brooks Sr., Chad Williams, Joseph Polite III and Harold Brooks.
