Joseph A. ‘Booger’ Sandoz III

Funeral services will be conducted for Joseph A. “Booger” Sandoz III, 82, on Friday, January 14, 2011, at 3 p.m. in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 13, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and resume on Friday, January 14, 2011, at 8 a.m. until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 7 p.m.

A native of Erath and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Sandoz died on Monday, January 10, 2011, in a New Iberia hospital. He retired from Basic Insulators. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Marines. He liked to play cards and fight roosters.

He is survived by his wife, Therese Hebert Sandoz, of New Iberia; his sons Joseph A. Sandoz IV and Boake Sandoz both of St. Martinville; his daughter Ratanna Landry of Atlanta; his brother Charles G. Sandoz of Erath; his sister Doris Champagne of Lafayette; his stepsons Carl Delcambre of Delcambre, Barry Delcambre of Monroe, Rudy Delcambre and Randy Delcambre both of New Iberia; and his stepdaughter Melissa Desormeaux of New Iberia. He is also survived by two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Sandoz Jr. and Ida Hulin Sandoz; his brothers Buster Sandoz, Nolan Sandoz and Alvin Sandoz; and his sisters Annie Broussard, Hilda Webb and Eleanor Landry.
