Groner’s response to “inaccurate” ads

State Senate District 22 candidate David Groner issued a statement in response to what he says are inaccurate, last-minute attack ads about him:

The ads say that I was disbarred by the Louisiana Supreme Court. This is not true.

The ads say that I committed fraud. This is not true.

Several years ago a young attorney working in my firm made a mistake and filed a law suit in the wrong parish. My firm settled with the client and the client lost no money, but the young lawyer did not get a form signed as required by the Bar Association.  As a result there was a technical violation of bar rules and my firm was placed on probation for a few months.  Let me be clear, the client was not my client. The client hired the young attorney, not I. But because she worked within my firm, I paid the consequences too. Since that time I have been named one of the top 100 lawyers in Louisiana two years in a row by Louisiana Life Magazine.

The Daily Iberian ran this story on the front page of the paper when it came out years ago.
