Carnivale de Brazil

Members of the Krewe of Andalusia gathered Saturday night at the Sugar Cane Festival Building in New Iberia in celebration of the 55th annual Mardi Gras bal masque.

The Krewe of Andalusia and its guests celebrated to the theme of “Carnivale de Brazil.” King Momo I and Queen Estalla I ruled over the world renowned tradition of all that is the season of Carnival in Brazil. The Captain of the Krewe of Andalusia, Edwin Ashey, began the festivities with the captain’s whistle.

Dan Doerle served as His Royal Majesty, King Momo I and King of the Ball of Andalusia. Dr. Ellen Mullen, wife of Gregory Mullen, was his consort, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Estalla I and Queen of the Ball of Andalusia.

Representing the youth of New Iberia were the Troubadours, who formed an honor guard to escort the royal couple. Troubadours were William Gregory Mullen and Jerry Shea Mullen, sons of Gregory and Dr. Ellen Mullen and Eric Anthony Verret, son of Carl and Valerie Verret.

Princesses of the royal couple were Aline Caroline Mullen, daughter of Gregory and Dr. Ellen Mullen, as Princess Carmella; Autumn Anaise Jones, daughter of Robert Jones III, as Princess Lupe and Ann Madison Jones, daughter of Paul and Dawn Jones, as Princess Isabella.

The Kings Pages were George William Bourdier, son of Paul and Hester Bourdier II; William Charles Russell, son of Kelly and Amy Russell; Zachary Andrew Clark, son of Drs. Andrew and Beth Clark; and Gerald A. Beaullieu V, son of Gerald and Kaci Beaullieu IV.

Serving as train bearers to the Queen were Madeline Michelle Champagne, daughter of Wayne and Genee Champagne; Susan Anne Marie Bourdier, daughter of Paul and Hester Bourdier II; Emily Claire Geoffroy, daughter of Gregory and Elaine Geoffroy; Abigail Rose Geoffroy, daughter of Gregory and Elaine Geoffroy; and Katelyn Grace Haik, daughter of Eric and Erin Haik.

Their Lordships, Dukes of the Court, were Calvin Begnaud as Bloco Leblon, Joey Broussard as Bloco Jardin Botanico, Dr. Andrew Clarke as Bloco Estacio de Sa’, Roy Holleman as Bloco Copacabana, Chad Pesson as Bloco Ipanema and Bart Romero as Bloco Lagon.

Ladyships, Maids to her Gracious Majesty the Queen, were Kaci Beaullieu as Empress of Sambo Primera deMango, Sandra DeRouen as Empress of Sambo Imperio, Jeanne Haik as Empress of Sambo De Vila Isabel, Nancy Hulin as Empress of Sambo de Grande Rio, Stacey Landry as Empress of Sambo Portela and Mary LeBlanc as Empress of Sambo Tradicao.

Ladies-In-Waiting to her Majesty the Queen were Lillian Marie Landry, daughter of Carol Landry and the late Peter Landry; Alix Nicole Hebert, daughter of Dawn Hebert and Michael Munnerlyn; Sydney Renee Babineaux, daughter of Michel and Dalton Babineaux III; Dawn Michele Duhe, daughter of Lisa and Bo Duhe; Rachel Claire LeMaire, daughter of Angela LeMaire and Todd LeMaire; and Camille Elizabeth Babineaux, daughter of Stacy Babineaux and Robert Babineaux.
