Members and guests of the St. Martinville Rotary Club’s 65th annual Mardi Gras Ball celebrated at the Cade Civic Center in grand style recently.
The celebration started with a blow of the whistle by Ball Captain Donald D. Akers Sr. and royalty was presented in lavish costumes.
King Rotary LXV Ward Breaux and Queen Rotary Anne LXV Taylor Eastin de la Houssaye ruled over the 65th ball.
Breaux, a co-founder and part owner of Breaux Brothers Enterprise Inc. of Loreauville, is married to the former Elaine Landry and they have three sons, Becket, Brannon and Bronson. Breaux is a member of St. Martin de Tours Catholic church parish and serves on the church council.
De la Houssaye, the daughter of Rotarian Richard and Janis de la Houssaye,, is a graduate of the Episcopal School of Acadiana and is currently attending the University of the South at Sewance, Tenn. where she is majoring in foreign languages.
Royalty presented during the festivities were, Queen Mother Carolyn Fuselier and her pages Reese Legendre and Lilian Latiolais and Queen of Mardi Gras Marguerite Hebert and her pages Paige Broussard and Alyssa Hebert.
The kings pages were Cole Breaux, Kinley Breaux, Ashlyn Breaux and Cain Breaux.
Junior maids were Alyssa Bennett, Katelyn Bennett, Clelie Comeaux, Heidi D’Albor, Carolyn Pellerin, Kylie Thibodeaux, Jenna Wiltz and Nasia Thibodeaux.
Junior royalty was Caroline Dubois, Patrick Q’Quinn and Elizabeth Dubois.
Debutantes presented for the 65th ball were Gena Babin, daughter of Dirk and Margot Babin, majoring in General Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Charlie Angelle Bourque, daughter of Terry and Faye Bourque, a Radiology Technician student at Our Lady of the Lake College; Chelsie Bourque, daughter of Patricia Bourque and the late Michael Bourque, majoring in Speech Pathology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Emily Katherine Broussard, daughter of James Jr. and Robin Broussard, majoring in Nursing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Hannah Broussard, daughter of Jonathan and Claire Broussard, a medical office assistant student at Academy of Acadiana; Angèle Aimeé Bulliard, daughter of Thomas and Gisele Bulliard, majoring in Health Information Management and Hospital Administration.
Also presented were Kayli Renée Champagne, daughter of Paul and Teresa Champagne, majoring in Pre-Med Biology at Louisiana State University; Denielle Elise Delcambre, daughter of Pete and Lisa Delcambre, majoring in Elementary Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Ashley Hulin, daughter of Hubert and Linda Hulin, majoring in Elementary Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Jessen Elizabeth Judice, daughter of Chip and Ashley Jones, majors in psychology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Lexi Irene Landry, daughter of Byron and Annette Landry, majoring in Forensic Psychology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Matelyn R. Landry, daughter of Andy and Joan Lasseigne, majoring in General Business at South Louisiana Community College; Courtney Lyn LeBlanc, daughter of Gus and Shannon Westcott, is a cosmotology student at Iberia Cosmotology Institution; Shelbie J. Currier, son of Randy and Linda O. Currier, is employed at the Clerk of Courts office in St. Martinville; Benjamin Guidry, son of Keith and Delia Guidry, majoring in Nursing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Caleb Michael Guidry, son of Kevin and Sheri Guidry, is a graduate of St. Martinville Sr. High School; Jerry J. Guidry, son of Leland and Geraldine Guidry, is pursuing a career in fire fighting.
