Landry named EMS Director of Year

Dr. Kim Landry, medical director for Santa Rosa County Emergency Medical Services in Florida, was named the 2011 Raymond H. Alexander, Medical Director of the Year.
Landry, a 1974 graduate of Hanson Memorial High School and a University of Louisiana at Lafayette graduate, is a native of Jeanerette and is the son of Steve and Barbara Landry. He now resides in Pensacola, Fla., with his wife and four children.
The Florida Department of Health’s Bureau of Emergency Medical Services presents that annual award to honor a physician who assumed a leadership role in EMS with the community and demonstrates excellence in the areas of quality assurance/improvement and medical control, as well as the promotion and use of new medical trends and technologies.
Landry has served as Santa Rosa County’s medical director for emergency response care since 2008. Under his leadership, Santa Rosa County is at the forefront of emergency medical services in the state of Florida. Landry’s active participation and dedication to continually improve all aspects of the emergency response system including 911 calls, care provided by the first responders and transportation units, and the quality assurance/improvement process has enhanced our capability to provide exceptional emergency care to the citizens of Santa Rosa County.
He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1989. He currently maintains medical licenses in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee and Georgia. In addition to his licenses, he is a certified Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency, a fellow with the American College of Emergency Physicians, an American Academy of Emergency Medicine Fellow, and a member of the Florida Medical Association. Dr. Landry also works as an emergency physician at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, and serves as the medical director for Leon County EMS, Tallahassee Fire Department and Midway Fire Department.
The award will be presented to Dr. Landry at the 21st Annual Excellence in EMS Awards Ceremony on July 6 in Orlando.
