Local businessman Jeff Jolet said he has dropped out of the race for Iberia Parish Council District 10.

Jolet, 56, who has owned Jeff’s Upholstery for 30 years, said his decision to withdraw from the race did not come easy.

“I did a lot of soul-searching over the weekend,” Jolet said Monday. “My business demands a lot out of me and I don’t know if I have the time to put my full force into the Parish Council.”

Councilman Roger Duncan, who represents District 10, recently dropped plans to run for parish president and will seek re-election to his District 10 seat.

“I hear there is one other person running, but I’m not going to be giving my support to anybody,” Jolet said. “I know I’ll be disappointing a lot of people by not running, but I do want to thank everyone for their support.”

Jolet did not say who that candidate was.
