Hebert remains St. Mary’s top cop

St. Mary Parish Sheriff incumbent Mark Hebert emerged the victor and is preparing to keep it business as usual.
“I’m very proud of our department and what we’ve done. I’m proud of the individuals I work with and we’re going to continue to do the job we’re elected to do,” said Hebert.
Hebert received 8,008 votes, or 53.4 percent of the vote. Mark LaSalle came in second with 31.3 pecent, or 4,695 votes. Jack D. Smith received 1,572, or 10.5 pecent of the votes and George Rodriguez won 728, or 4.85 percent of the votes.
“I’m very excited and thankful for the support we received from the people of St. Mary Parish. I want to commend the other candidates for taking the time to run for the job and wish them all the best,” Hebert said.
