St. Mary Parish President Paul Naquin will keep his seat for another four years and said his administration has much to accomplish.
“We’ve got plenty of work ahead of us and we need to get it done,” Naquin said.
He garnered 8,687 votes, or 60.5 percent of votes cast. His competitor, Gary Duhon, brought in 5,668, or 39.5 percent of the vote.
“I did better than I thought I was going to do. I expected about a 55 to 45 percent turnout. I want to give a big thanks to all of my supporters,” he said.
According to the Secretary of State’s website, only 43.1 percent of St. Mary’s voters cast ballots in the race.
