Meet the candidates

Growing up in New Iberia, I never really had a home and bounced back and forth after my parents separated. My life changed when I was taken in by Alice Jacquemond, whose love and discipline turned me around. After high school, I joined the U.S. Navy then returned home to work and attend college at night while settling into married life. I’m a man devoted to God, family, community and helping those in need, and I have a history of serving my community with honesty and integrity.

I started out as a successful self-employed business contractor, master plumber and vocational plumbing teacher.

The people of Iberia parish have been kind enough to elect me as police juror, where I served as president; sheriff; and, the Louisiana House of Representatives.

I am married to Mary Joyce Chevalon Romero (53 years) and we have been blessed with two children – Clodora and Shane – and two grandchildren – Zachary and Miriam.
