DELCAMBRE — Vermilion Catholic beat Erath 49-40 in the championship game of the Lynette Viator Memorial Tournament on Saturday, and Notre Dame beat Erath in the consolation finals, 72-47.

In games Friday, Erath beat Delcambre 53-30 and Notre Dame beat St. Martinville 56-30 in the consolation semifinals.

The tournament honors Delcambre native and longtime Teche Area coach Lynette Viator, a 1973 DHS graduate who coached at Franklin and Westgate high schools and Iberia Middle School before finishing her career at her alma mater. Viator died in 2004 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

Vermilion Catholic 49, North Vermilion 40

Katie Frith had 13 points and Mikhyla Campbell added 12 for the Lady Eagles, who trailed 25-15 at halftime but outscored North Vermilion 13-4 in the third quarter and 19-11 in the fourth.

Chelcie Sonnier had 16 points to lead the Lady Patriots. Kate Faulk added 8.

Notre Dame 72, Erath 47

Notre Dame scored at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters to run away with the consolation game.

The Lady Pios led 21-8 after one quarter and 41-24 at halftime.

Marie Ledet had two 3-pointers and 20 total points to lead Notre Dame. Mallory Chaisson added 9 and Peyton Miller had 8.

Megan Norris led the Lady Bobcats with 15 points. Sydney Richardelle had 9 and Ashley Dubois added 7.

Erath 53, Delcambre 30

In the consolation semifinals Friday, Erath led 13-6 after one quarter and 20-9 at halftime.

Norris scored 14 points, Dubois had 10 and Alexis Harrington added 9 for the Lady Bobcats.

Nicole Bouillion led DHS with 8 points and Taylor Moneaux and Keely Broussard had 6 each.

Notre Dame 56, St. Martinville 30

Chaisson scored 16 points and Maria Ledet had 10 for the Lady Pioneers, who led 18-4 after one period and 30-6 at halftime.

Abreanna Alexander scored 14 points to lead St. Martinville. Rolunda Smith added 8.
