Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Billie Barrilleaux Mellon, 71, who died Thursday, January 26, 2012 in New Iberia. Deacon Theo Landry will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd. in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Billie was born and raised on Weeks Island. She taught dancing for many years, and was a catechism teacher at St. Peters Church. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and friends. Billie’s hobbies included crafts and sewing, however her biggest love in life was Little League Baseball.  Billie wore many hats throughout her years at Evangeline Little League, where she devoted countless hours and years for the betterment of the league and community. She was unselfishly committed to the success of Evangeline Little League. Her volunteerism was an excellent example of true leadership and dedication. Over the years she served as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Player Agent, Umpire in Chief, District Administrator and Assistant District Administrator. Billie touched the lives of many young people and adults in the community. She will be sadly missed by all. Survivors include her husband, Ronald E. Mellon, of New Iberia; daughters Misty Mellon Montgomery and husband, Shawn, of New Iberia, Marty Mellon and Jason McLean of New Iberia; sons Michael Mellon and fiancé, Regina Baker, of Lafayette, Patrick Mellon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren Tripp Montgomery, Ali Montgomery, Emeri Mellon McLean; brothers-in-law Dudley Gros of New Iberia, Donald Mellon and wife, Susie, of Mountainview, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Marie Delcambre Barrilleaux; her sister Jolen B. Gros; and nephews Darrel J. Gros and Wesley Gros.
