J.C. “Pappy” Moore Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012, at a 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, for J.C. “Pappy” Moore, 86, who died on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Milton. Reverend Edward Degeyter of St. Martinville will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services, assisted by Deacon Cody Miller. Giftbearers will be Lanie Guidry, Madison Guidry, Sydney Credeur, Stevie Credeur, Devon Legnon, Danielle Credeur and Lexi Taquino. Lectors will be Lexi Taquino and Danielle Credeur. Shawntel Moore, vocalist, accompanied by organist, Karen Broussard, will sing for the service, “Amazing Grace”, “Wherever You Go”, “Breathe” and “Battle Hymn Of The Republic”. Survivors include four children Marlene Guidry and her husband, Mike, Janet Wapnarski, Kevin Moore and his wife, Yvette, Lisa Taquino and her husband, Chad; eight grandchildren, Todd Guidry, Danielle Credeur and her husband, Ron, Jeremy Wapnarski and his wife, Desiree, Devon Legnon and her husband, David, Dusty Moore and wife, Shawntel, Lanie Guidry and her husband, T.J., Ryne Moore and Lexi Taquino; nine great-grandchildren, Morgan Grossie, Madison Guidry, Cole Guidry, Sydney Credeur, Stevie Credeur, Cohen Wapnarski, Spencer Credeur, Landon Wapnarski and Ian Legnon; his siblings Bernice Meyers, Alex Moore and Thelma LeBlanc. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Leona Fremin Moore, who died on December 28, 2009; his parents, Claude Moore and the former, Celima LeBlanc a granddaughter, Laci Michelle Taquino on August 14, 2006; and his brothers Lawrence “Bee” Moore and Fred Moore. Mr. Moore was born on August 11, 1925, in Vermilion Parish and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a veteran of military service, having served honorably in the United States Army, during World War II. Mr. Moore served in France, during the Battle of the Bulge and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Moore worked for Service Chevrolet for 25 years in Sales. Prior to his retirement in 2008, he was employed as a Golf Shop Attendant for Hebert Municipal Golf Course in Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Kevin Moore, Dusty Moore, Ryne Moore, Todd Guidry, Cole Guidry and Jeremy Wapnarski. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Guidry, Chad Taquino and Catherine Dronet. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE location on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. and on Monday, March 5, 2012, from 8 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by Deacon Cody Miller, followed by a Eulogy given by his grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Chancellor E. Donald and the nursing staff on the fifth floor at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, for the wonderful care given to their loving father.
