ST. MARTINVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Saint Martinville for Madeline Marie Turpeau Wyche, 75, who passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Rev. Augustinus Seran, SVD, officiated at the funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Jennifer Fontenette, Rhonda Broussard, Dr. Erinn Olivier and Diane Olivier. Gift bearers were Anna Olivier, Howard Wilkinson III, Athan Olivier IV, Raenika Wilkinson and Athan Olivier III. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Saint Martinville.

Mrs. Wyche was the owner and operator of Wyche’s Bar & Pool Hall and Timmy’s Lounge. She served as a foster grandparent at the Early Learning Center in St. Martinville for numerous years. Madeline enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking and baking and going to the casino with the girls.

She is survived by her daughter Raephelle Curtis Olivier and her husband, Athan Olivier Jr., of Saint Martinville; her sister Goldie Charles of Houston; two grandchildren Athan Olivier III and Raenika Olivier Wilkinson; and three great-grandchildren Anna Olivier, Athan Olivier IV and Howard Wilkinson III.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Jual Curtis Sr.; and her second husband, Henry Wyche; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Turpeau; and three brothers Audrey, Wilbert and George Turpeau.

The family requested that visiting hours were observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

A rosary was recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Pallbearers were Benjamin Francis, Dennis Turpeau, Donald “Donnie” Charles, Paul Turpeau, Athan Olivier III and Woody Davis.

Pellerin Funeral Home, 332-2111, was in charge of arrangements.
