LAFAYETTE — A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Kinchen Funeral Home for Mr. Ivan Kemble Landry. The Rev. Allen Randle will officiate the service.
Ivan Kemble Landry was born in Lafayette, October 30, 1962, to the late Warren Landry Jr. and Sylvia Maria Catalan. He united in marriage to Mrs. Ada Pearl Fontenette Landry after an engagement of five years. On May 5, 2003, he took her hand in marriage.
He loved and enjoyed bass-fishing and working in the field at Central Cooling and Heating with lifelong friend, and buddy of 32 years Mr. John “Pop” Perro. He was also experienced in electrical and welding type jobs. He was truly a master of many trades. Perfection guaranteed!
He loved cooking his famous gumbo and his specialty, barbecue. He loved just kicking back and relaxing, listening to music, watching TV and various movies of all kinds.
Ivan was called home to rest on Monday, August 27, 2012.
He leaves to cherish his fond memory his wife, Ada Pearl Fontenette Landry. He will be sadly missed by his loving family which includes his daughters Chantelle Landry George and her husband, Byron, of Lafayette, April Landry Roy and her husband, Terrance, of Lafayette; stepdaughters Esheika Fontenette and Na’Keya Fontenette, both of New Iberia; stepsons Harlyn Fontenette and Darrell Fontenette, both of New Iberia; brother Keith Emanuel Landry and his wife, Elaine, of Atlanta; nephews Chanz Cormier, Efrain Guerra and Migue Landry, all of Lafayette; niece Brittany Landry of Lafayette; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; aunts Catherine Catalan, Porche Handy and Sadonia “Pudding” Landry, all of Lafayette; uncle Roman “T-Neg” Landry Sr. of Alexandria; father-in-law, Lucius Fontenette Jr., and mother-in-law, Patricia Ann Fontenette, both of New Iberia; sisters-in-law Sheba Thomas (Michael) and Shella Fontenette, both of New Iberia; and brother-in-law Lucius Fontenette III, of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Landry Jr. and Sylvia Maria Catalan Landry; grandparents, Warren J. Landry Sr. and Vivian Elizabeth Metoyer, John Roland Catalan and Madel Labbe; infant brother; and infant grandson Cameron Michael George; two uncles John Earl Catalan and Albert Catalan; and aunt Julia “Butch” Landry.
