Erath High School cheerleaders made an impressive showing at the second annual Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Cheer Championships held recently at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Erath cheerleaders received a fourth-place ranking in the High School Time Out Cheer competition and a fourth- place ranking in the High School Time Out Dance competition.

More than 2,000 student-athletes participated in the event making it the third-largest participatory LHSAA championship behind outdoor track and field and cross country.

More than 200 high school participants competed in various cheer divisions. The event was sponsored by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and the Universal Cheerleaders Association.
