Thibodeaux receives LRPA award

L. Patrick Thibodeaux was recently recognized at the Louisiana Recreation and Park Association Conference held in Ruston with the Fellowship Award.

Thibodeaux has an accomplished background and love for the game of softball. He has played in numerous district, state, and regional tournaments in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi and has served as the ASA Deputy District Commissioner for 10 years in District 6 in the Acadiana area.

He worked with the New Iberia Police Department from 1977 until 1982, and later served as assistant director of New Iberia Parks and Recreation until 1992.

Thibodeaux returned to New Iberia Parks and Recreation in 1999 as a program coordinator. He has participated in programs such as basketball, golf and bowling. He has shown a genuine compassion for youth as well as adults in his more than 20 years promoting recreation within the department. He has since enhanced the department by rekindling a passion to begin the “Hall of Fame” program, which honors past and present legends of softball players in the community. As an honor, Thibodeaux was inducted in to the Hall of Fame in 2012.

He has as also shown dedication to his recreation profession by becoming a Certified Professional. He has shown his dedication to LRPA by serving as chair on numerous occasions and hosting several LRPA conferences in New Iberia.

He has supported many city events by volunteering his services.
