The National Beta Club has named Rachelle Walet and Andrea Willis as Beta Scholars.

Walet and Willis, Loreauville High School seniors, will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Walet plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in nursing.

She is the daughter of Gregory Walet an the late Evelyn Walet.

Willis plans to attend Xavier University. She is the daughter of Sharon and Lloyd Willis Jr.

Walet and Willis were recommended for the award by local Beta Club sponsor Maria Brodie and high school Principal Karen Bashay. They are among the 226 recipients of 73,278 12th-grade members of the National Beta Cub.

The National Beta Club is the nation’s largest independent youth organization. Since its beginning in 1934, The National Beta Club has been committed to providing students with a positive experience in a supportive manner with their peers in grades five to 12.

The organization recognizes academic achievement, encourages service to others and promotes the development of good character and leadership skills.
