Two valedictorians, salutatorian at CHS

The Catholic High School Class of 2013 will be awarded diplomas Monday night with two valedictorians and one salutatorian leading the 92 graduates.
Valedictorian Joshua Childers, son of Shanon and John Childers, earned a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend Tulane University in the fall.

Childers was a member of the Varsity Football Team, Varsity Track Team, National Honor Society, Campus Ministry Team, Beta Club, Quiz Bowl and Rally Team during his high school career.
Childers’ awards include third place in the English competition in Louisiana Beta Club Convention, second place in World History at the Louisiana District Literary Rally, first place in the New Iberia Fire Department Fire Prevention Week essay contest, Louisiana High School Athletic Academic All-State 4.0, Principal Honor Roll, United States Achievement Academy National Awards for academic excellence and St. Katherine Drexel Award for Confirmation.
He also has earned the National Achievement scholarship, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners scholarship, Distinguished Scholar scholarship, TOPS and a Tulane Scholarship.
Valedictorian Hale Trahan, son of Neal and Adrienne Trahan, will graduate with a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend Louisiana State University.
Trahan was active in soccer, tennis, National Beta Club, National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl and Student Council. He also has earned a LHSAA Academic All-State soccer award and the Catholic High Torch of Knowledge award.
He received the LSU Academic Scholars award, Boardwalk Pipeline LLC scholarship and the St. Martin Land Co. Scholarship.

Salutatorian Rayner Renae LeBlanc, daughter of Christopher and Phyllis LeBlanc, will graduate with a 3.959 GPA and will attend Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., where she earned a $21,850 annual scholarship.
She was a member of the Key Club, Student Council, FCA and National Honor Society, Varsity Softball team and Volleyball team. She also participated and placed in district and state Literary Rally sophomore and junior year.
LeBlanc earned the 2011 Best of the Teche Softball award, 3A softball state champion, 2012 LSWA 2A All-State Softball Honorable Mention, 2012 first-team All-District 6-2A softball, academic letter for top 10 percent of 2013 class and received the Catholic High Torch of Knowledge award.
