Jones elected to national office

Alvin H. Jones, SMILE Head Start/EHS Director for the past 14 years and president of the Louisiana Head Start Association Board of Directors, has been elected as vice president of the National Head Start Association Board of Directors in Washington, D.C.

 As vice president of the board, his direct responsibilities will be to oversee all committees and to ensure activities are carried out successfully.

Jones said he was somewhat surprised that a board of 50 members would elect someone who is a fairly new member only serving for some four years.   

The national board is responsible for all activities of the entire Head Start program in the United States and has lobbyists to support and inform programs nationally on what is happening on Capitol Hill.
