Funeral services will be held for Mr. Addison David Provost on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at St. John Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home until noon. Visitation will resume at the church until time of service. Interment will be in church cemetery. The Rev. Michael Williams will be officiating funeral services.
Mr. Provost was a native of Franklin and a resident of New Iberia for 68 years. Mr. Provost was a retired welder for National Supply, Korean War Veteran where he was a boxer, VFW, St. John Baptist Church Deacon Ministry. He also played football and baseball for Jonas Henderson High School.
He is survived by three sons the Rev. Dr. David (Felicia) Jones, Gary Guidry and Addison J. Provost, all of New Iberia; five daughters Patricia (George) Holland, Sharon (Johnny) Johnson, Felicia Provost and Connie (Clarence) McGuire, all of New Iberia, and Vera (Larry) Austin of Lafayette; one brother George Provost of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three sisters Lillian (William) Harris of Richmond, Calif., Mary P. Martin of Shreveport and Beulah P. Provost of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Josephine William Provost; two sisters Mercedes P. Anderson and LaVera P. Stutts; a brother Harold J. Provost; and two grandchildren Ashton Lopez and Bryant Marks Jr.
Pallbearers will be family members, friends and the Deacon Ministry of St. John Baptist Church.
Journet & Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of services.
