Old Fashion Mardi Gras Runs
br
The age- old tradition of the Courir de Mardi Gras is steeped deep within medieval traditions. Ceremonial begging and ritualistic chanting is displayed by masked revelers dressed in homemade patchwork costumes. Revelers traditionally used such displays to collect various ingredients needed for an evening community gumbo. Revelers ride the countryside by horseback or wagon and entertain homeowners with comical rivalry in their attempt to chase and capture a live chicken for the evening gumbo. If you would like to watch the running of the Mardi Gras, find a convenient date and time!
