Edward Shedrich Boutte

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Edward Shedrich Boutte, 78, at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Saint Edward Catholic Church, New Iberia, with Monsignor Ronald Broussard, celebrant.

He will await the resurrection at Saint Edward Catholic Church Cemetery, New Iberia.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 7 – 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with a Rosary to be recited at 9 a.m.

A native of Olivier and resident of St. Martinville, he passed at 2 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Boutte was a skilled electrician and spent many years working for Breaux’s Bay Craft and Red Fox Industries. He also possessed an unquenchable entrepreneurial spirit, as such, he and his wife (Mary) owned and operated numerous businesses throughout their 57 years of marriage. They owned Community Cash Grocery on Field Street in New Iberia, Happy Days Day Care Center in St. Martinville, M&K Superette in New Iberia and M&M Transportation in St. Martinville, just to name a few.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary Francis Boutte, of Saint Martinville; three sons Steve Boutte (Doris) of Saint Martinville, Michael Boutte (Carol) of New Iberia and Edward Fontenette (Katherine) of Alexandria; three daughters Katie Boutte of Loreauville, Claudia Boutte of Shreveport and Karen Boutte of Saint Martinville; one brother Russell Boutte (Fabiola) of Jeanerette; one sister Minister Mary Ellen Alexander (the Rev. Louie) of Houston; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burgess Boutte Sr. and Mary Conner Boutte; daughter Kathy Boutte; grandson Michael Boutte II; great-granddaughter Madison Wilson; sisters Lorenza Boutte, Rose B. Joe and Theresa Boutte Olivier; brothers Albert, Patrick, Donald, Gilbert and Burgess Boutte Jr.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Allen Jr., Corey E. Allen, Darrell L. Manning Sr., George Olivier Jr., Alfred Francis and Carl George.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve E. Boutte, Michael R. Boutte, Edward Fontenette, Russell Boutte, the Rev. Louis Alexander, Henry Perro, Ray Allen Sr. and John Hogue Jr.
