Esponge in master trumpet class

NATCHITOCHES — Galindo Rodriguez, associate professor of music at Northwestern State University, served as a clinician recently, presenting a series of master classes for seven high school trumpeters. Cameron Esponge of Delcambre was among the students who received several private lessons during which areas of trumpet performance were studied including posture, breathing, warmups, articulation, technique, tone quality and pitch, rhythm and time. The students participated in trumpet ensemble, brass quintets, wind ensemble and jazz ensemble settings. Northwestern State graduate assistant Nathanial McReynolds of Bellville, Texas, assisted with teaching, music preparation and coaching.
