Alfred Marks

Mr. Alfred Marks, 81, a native and resident of New Iberia, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Iberia Medical Extended Care in New Iberia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at noon at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will begin at 7:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Pastor Darren Sophus will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.

Mr. Marks is survived by four sons Harold Marks of New Iberia, Kevin Marks (Antoinette) of Katy, Texas, Jerome Marks and Bryant Marks of Lafayette; eight daughters Bertha Davis of Arlington, Texas, Eloise Shelvin, Beverly Ledet (John), Michelle Manuel (Everette), Jacqueline Orphe, Karen Ledet, all of New Iberia, and Joshelyn Marks of Atlanta; three brothers Donald Marks Of New Iberia, John Marks (Diane) of New Orleans and Howard Marks of Richmond, California; six sisters Ida Green, Georgia Brown, Leona Brown (Lloyd), Margaret Chevalier, Thelma Collins of New Iberia and Faraleen Walton (Daniel) Union City, California; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Jacquet; parents, Pharez and Georgianna Porter Marks; one son Alfred Marks Jr.; one daughter Debra Price; grandchildren Bryant Marks Jr., Brock Manuel, Jaylen Price, Travorius Davis Pitts; and one granddaughter Ashley Davis Pitts.

Pallbearers will be Kawoski Johnson, Marlon Trent Marks, Johnathan Marks, Ja’Horae Johnson, Kerry Mouton and Kenneth Delcambre.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Marks, Kevin Troy Marks II, Bryant Marks, Jerome Marks, Kevin Troy Marks Jr., Lloyd Smith Jr., Eddie Cretien Sr., Donald Marks, John Marks, Howard Marks, Shawn Rhoades, Cleveland Provost Sr., Alfred Provost, Michael Davis, R.J. King Sr. and Charles Porter.
