A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Anna Mae Stokes, 89, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at St. Edward Catholic Church, New Iberia, with the Rev. Msgr. Ronald Broussard celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Edward Church cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a Rosary being recited at 9 a.m.
A native and resident of New Iberia, she died at 8:48 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Consolata Nursing and Rehab Center, New Iberia. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and a member of the Angelic Choir. She was also a cook at many church fairs.
She leaves to cherish her memory and in God’s care one son Harry Joseph Finney Sr. of New Iberia; three daughters Linda Marie Joseph of New Iberia, Barbara J. Hayes of LaPlace and Vanessa J. Fusilier (Jeffery) of New Iberia; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She now joins in glory with her parents, John “Minnow” Stokes and Julia Dorsey Stokes; her maternal grandmother, Mary Dorsey; and one uncle Ernest Dorsey.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Allen, Terry Fusilier, Willie L. Hayes Jr., Charles Joseph, Ernest Youman and Keith Youman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian DeGray Sr., Brian DeGray Jr., Harry Finney Jr., Xavier Finney, Michael Finney and Brendon Hayes.
