Ditch to vie for Iberia Parish president in ’15

Iberia Parish Councilman David Ditch announced a bid for the Iberia Parish president’s office for the 2015 election.

Ditch, 37, is serving his first term representing District 7 and owns Home Instead Senior Care in New Iberia. In his announcement, Ditch called himself an “outspoken advocate” for senior citizens and said the parish president needs to champion economic and community development in addition to working responsibly as a leader.

“While our parish is positioned well to continue to be a player in the energy sector, our community remains plagued by social, political and environmental concerns,” he said. “I plan to work diligently to create a plan which will enable our children and grandchildren the opportunity to call Iberia Parish home for generations to come.”

Ditch earned a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s of business adminstration degree from Louisiana State University. He is the son of Iberia Parish Coroner Dr. Carl Ditch.

David Ditch and his wife, Jessica, have two children. In the past, he, as an outdoorsman and soccer coach, has served as a board member for the New Iberia Kiwanis Club, Louisiana PepperPlex, Bourgeous 2030 and Ducks Unlimited.
