This number game is both our new favorite and our new nemesis. The premise sounds simple – match numbered tiles by sliding them across a board, until you wind up with one tile: 2048. Combining two matching tiles turns them into one tile. Match two 2’s, and you have a 4. Match two 4’s, and you have an 8, and so on. The game ends when you have no more moves available. For a little extra challenge, turn off the “unlimited undo” feature or turn on the “survival time” mode. If your 2048 habit takes you into the wee hours of the night, there’s even a night theme for playing in the dark. Cost: Free, with in-app purchases.
