A Celebration of Life will be held for James “Nookie” Rayfield Lancelin II at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, 104 10th Street, Baldwin, 70514, with the Rev. Ulysses Mitchell officiating and the Rev. Joseph Lanceslin, eulogist.
Visitation will be observed at the church Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will be in St. Matthew Cemetery in Patoutville.
Born on August 30, 1951, James lived life to the fullest and in his 63rd year, transitioned from his earthly realm on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Iberia Medical Center. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith and now awaits the crown that was promised unto him by the Lord Jesus Christ.
James leaves with cherished memories to live forever in the hearts of his family his children Mary Douglas McDaniel of Baldwin, Eric Lancelin of Houston, Terri Robertson-Bailey (Marcus) of Lafayette, Martinis Marks Sr. (Rebecca) of Carencro, Randall Lancelin of Baldwin and Trunisha Marks of Baldwin; brothers George Lancelin (Lucy) of Baldwin, the Rev. Joseph Lanceslin (Mayor Donna Lewis-Lanceslin) of Baldwin and Gregory Lancelin (Bessie) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; sisters Maxine Harris (Richard) of Madison, Wisconsin and Greta Jones (Harry) of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; goddaughters Sherise Henry and Tina Robertson; godson Vern Lancelin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Robertson Lancelin; parents, John Lancelin and Edna Devore Lancelin; granddaughter Martericka Marks; brothers John H. Lancelin, Alfred E. Lancelin, James R. Lancelin and Justice Lancelin; and sisters Delores Baker, Beatrice Joseph and Audrey M. Lancelin.
Active pallbearers will be Donald Rener Jr., Al Hughes, Wane McGarity, Vern Lancelin, Robert Lancelin, Kwan Lanceslin and Antoine Douglas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Martinis Marks Sr., Randall Lancelin, George Lancelin, Joseph Lancelin, Gregory Lancelin, Marcus Bailey, Ronald Arthur Jr., Vernon Richardson, Wane Joseph and Edward Henry.
