- Boudoin seeks to be Iberia’s sheriff
Former deputy and warrant officer David Boudoin announced he will run for Iberia Parish Sheriff in this fall’s election.
“As your sheriff, my vision is clear, my ambitions are deep, my motives are pure and true and I will allow the Lord to direct my footsteps,” he said in his announcement.
Boudoin, also called “Spike,” spent 23 years as a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office and worked in each major department within the office. He was a detective for 18 of those years and earned certifications to be a crime scene investigator, internal affairs investigator, psychological stress examiner and court-certified fingerprint identification expert, among others.
With the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Boudoin worked as a warrant officer, during which he helped collect around $42 million in child support payments and was named Investigator/Warrant Officer of the Year in 2006, among others.
Boudoin said he aims to open office accessibility to the community and bring back services cut throughout the years thanks to budget setbacks. He said he would focus on upping patrols and follow-up investigations in an effort to deter the parish’s growing crime rates.
Through the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now The University of Louisiana at Lafayette), Boudoin graduated from the Acadiana Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1983.
Qualifiying for this election runs Sept. 8-10. Election day is Oct. 24
