The widow and family of the late Gene Broussard, right, recently donated 12 hand-held metal detectors in his memory to be used for standard security operations at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Shown above are St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, Agnes Broussard, Broussard’s widow, and Stephanie Pillaro, Broussard’s daughter. After retiring from work with a car dealership in Franklin, Broussard pursued a career in law enforcement. He rose through the ranks of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and took on a supervisory role at the jail during his 14 years of service. He died March 13, 2012.
