Westgate to graduate 210 at Coliseum Wednesday

Four co-valedictorians will lead the Class of 2015 at Westgate High School as it holds commencement ceremonies at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Coliseum.

Co-valedictorians leading the 210 graduates are Cristy Nicole Trahan, Eilynn Thi Tran, Kacie René Viator and Braylin Michelle Vincent.

Trahan is the daughter of Catherine and Blake Trahan of New Iberia.

During her high school career, she was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad and served as captain, the National Honor Society and served as its vice president, the Student Council and was Class Secretary and the Spirit Committee.

After graduation, Trahan plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in biology.

Tran is the daughter of Thong and Kelly Tran of New Iberia.

In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and served as its president, the Student Council, was Class of 2015 vice president for the Diversity Club, vice president and representative of Beta Club, SADD and Spanish Club. She also was a member of the girl’s soccer team for two years and swim team for one year. She participated in the Technology Challenge for four years.

She was Westgate Homecoming queen in 2014, Student of the Year nominee, won Most Valuable Player in junior varsity soccer and lettered two years. She also won awards in all four years of participating in the ULL Literary Rally: 2012 Algebra I, second place; 2013 Civics, fifth place; 2014 Algebra II, fifth place; 2015 Advanced Math, fourth place. She won first place in 2014 and 2015 in the school’s talent show.

After graduation, Tran plans to attend LSU and major in chemistry and hopes to eventually become an orthodontist.

Viator is the daughter of Randy and Sandy Viator of New Iberia.

During high school, she was a member of the Lady Tigers softball team, National Honor Society, Diversity Club and Spirit Committee.

She earned a spot on the All State Softball Academic Composite Team and selected second team All District Catcher for District 7-4A.

She also has earned an LSU Tiger Excellence scholarship.

After graduation, Viator plans to attend Louisiana State University.

Vincent is the daughter of Lillie and David Vincent of New Iberia.

While in high school, she was a member of the Beta Club for four years and served as its president, Spanish Club for two years and served as its vice president, National Honor Society for two years and Explorers Club for a year. She also was a member of the Spirit Committee and Octagon Club.

After graduation, Vincent plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and study either nursing or biology.
