Delcambre’s Class of 2015 will be led by three seniors

Three co-valedictorians will lead the Delcambre High School Class of 2015 when commencement ceremonies are held at 6 p.m. Friday.

Tara Madelyn Baker, Sarah Elizabeth Saunier and Tori Lynn Verret each earned a grade point average of 4.0, earning top spots among the 62 seniors who will graduate this year.

Baker is the daughter of Evelyn Creekmore of Delcambre.

While in high school, she was a member of the Beta Club, FBLA Club and Pride of Pantherland Marching Band.

She was a representative at Girls State in 2014, drum major for the Pride of Pantherland and the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2014 and 2015, won first place in World History at the ULL District Literary Rally in 2015, participated in the state Literary Rally in World History in 2015, earn a superior in Business Communication at the District FBLA Conference in 2014, placed ninth in Business Communication at the state FBLA Conference in 2015, received the Director’s Award from band in 2014 and 2015 and was voted Most Likely to Succeed and Friendliest.

After graduation, Baker plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in animal sciences in pursuit of becoming a doctor of veterinary medicine.

Saunier is the daughter of Leonard and Neely Saunier of Delcambre.

During her high school career, she was Delcambre High and Iberia Parish 2015 Student of the Year, Girls State Representative in 2014 and 2015, a member of the cheerleading squad for four years, co-captain in 2013 and captain in 2014, member of the Color Guard for three years and served as captain in 2013 and 2014, member of the FBLA for four years and served as president this year, member of the Beta Club and member of Our Lady of the Lake Church Choir for four years. She participated in the District Academic Rally at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, receiving a first place in Physical Science, second place in Physics, third place in Principal of Business and fourth place in Geometry. She received the Bosch & Laumb Academic Award for Highest GPA in Science, Daughters of the American Revolution Award, highest GPA medals for Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, American History, World Geography, Civics, Food & Nutrition and Advanced Food & Nutrition. She was the Delcambre Shrimp Festival Teen Queen and recipient of the Chris Daly/JP Thibodeaux Service Above Self Scholarship and a ULL academic scholarship.

After graduation, Saunier plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in biology/pre-med and hopes to be admitted into the LSU School of Medicine with a emphasis in radiology or anesthesiology.

Verret is the daughter of Craig and Dayna Verret of New Iberia.

She was a member of the Lady Panther softball, basketball and track teams and member of the BETA, FBLA and FCCLA clubs.

She was awarded medals for the highest GPA in Physical Science, Fine Arts, Foods and Advanced Foods, and PE III. She was voted Most Outstanding Female Athlete and earned All State Academic status in basketball, softball and track.

After graduation, Verret plans to attend LSU and major in biology with hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon.
