Two co-valedictorians, salutatorian to lead HBCS

Highland Baptist Christian School’s Lexy Schexnayder, Connor LeMaire and Katie White will lead the graduating class Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Worship Center at Highland Baptist Church.
Thirty-five seniors are scheduled to graduate with the HBCS Class of 2015. Schexnayder and LeMaire are the co-valedictorians with a GPA of 4.0 while White is salutatorian with a GPA of 3.9.
Schexnayder, the daughter of Douglas Schexnayder and Kristi LeNoir LaBiche, both of New Iberia, maintained the 4.0 GPA throughout high school and was a member of the National Honor Society, Senior Beta Club and Bears & Cubs, a mentoring program that matchers high school students with younger students.
She received the Academic Achievement Scholarship and the Ray P. Authement Valedictorian Scholarship at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she plans to major in biology. She plans to continue her education at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans.
Other accolades include a full scholarship to Barclay University after receiving the Outstanding Christian Student Award, Academic Scholarships to LSU and LSU-A, as well the National Youth Leadership Foundation Award in Medicine.
LeMaire is the son of Charles and Tracey LeMaire of St. Martinville. Extracurricular activities and clubs included drumline, National Honor Society and Beta Club.
After graduation, LeMaire, of St. Martinville, plans to attend LSU, the Honors College, where he plans to major in biomolecular chemical engineering.
White, the daughter of Keith and Liz White of New Iberia, played varsity softball, basketball and volleyball at HBCS. She was a member of the chapel/youth band and Service Club.
After graduation, she plans to major in English literature and English secondary education while pursuing a minor in business at LSU.
