New Iberia Senior High School graduate, Keoindra Raynell Sparrow, was recently awarded the Major James Grace Aim High Award for outstanding academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and high personal goals. She was a member of Beta Club and volunteer at the Angel Paws Adoption Center while working at Taco Bell. She plans to attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles and study nursing.
The Aim High Award is a cash scholarship given to honor and remember NISH graduate, Maj. James Grace, U.S. Air Force, who was an outstanding student, athlete and military officer.
After volunteering as a fighter pilot in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, his plane was shot down over Laos June 14, 1969. He survived the crash but his fate remains unknown.
