More than 500 vote in person in Iberia on first day of early voting

Early voting continues this week and resumed at 8:30 a.m. today.

On Saturday, the first day of early voting for the Oct. 24 election, 556 Iberia Parish resident voted in-person at the Iberia Parish Courthouse. Another 99 mailed in absentee ballots and 20 residents of nursing homes also cast ballots when Iberia Parish Registrar of Voters workers went to their homes.

In St. Martin Parish, 500 voted in person — 260 at the Breaux Bridge Office, 231 at the St. Martinville Office and nine at the Stephensville office — and 36 mailed in absentee ballots.

In St. Mary Parish, 405 cast votes in person and 83 mailed in absentee ballots.

Residents have through Saturday to cast early ballots at their local registrar offices, which are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
