Local student in national orchestra

William Thomas Melancon, a senior at New Iberia Senior High, will join outstanding musicians from across the nation as part of Music for All’s 2016 Honor Orchestra of America.

Melancon, son of Tim and Catherine Melancon, plays French horn and was selected by audition. He has been a member of parish, district and state honor bands, wind ensembles and orchestras. Twice he has participated in the All-South honor band and he is an honor student with a 4.0 GPA.

Rehearsals begin for the performance on March 9 with concerts March 11 and 12 at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis. They will share the concert with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
