The National Federation of Republican Women elected Louisiana Republican leader JoAnn Parker of New Iberia to serve as treasurer for 2016-2017.
Parker, a resident of New Iberia, was elected during a spring board meeting March 17-19 to fill the position, which was vacant since the beginning of the year. She took office immediately.
At the time of the election, Parker was serving as an at-large member to the executive committee. She has been active in the organization for many years, previously serving as fundraising committee chairman and in several other leadership roles.
“We are thrilled to have JoAnn guide us in the role of treasurer,” NFRW President Carrie Almond said. “She brings experience, talent, vision and passion to our team.”
“I am so excited to have this opportunity with NFRW,” Parker said. “I am also very humbled with the trust that the members have placed in me and look forward to working on the Executive Committee in this capacity for the next two years.”
Parker has been a local business owner and philanthropist for more than 30 years. She has served as CFO of an International Humanitarian Aid organization, on the Stewardship Committee of Highland Baptist Church, as well as serving as the treasurer for the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women.
Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country.
The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
