William “Lil Bill” Russell Jr.

Mr. William Patrick Russell, 42, a native and resident of New Iberia, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.

Funeral services will be held at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 175 Ambassador W. Lemelle Street in New Iberia, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. until time of the services at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne St., New Iberia. The Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at St. Edward’s Mausoleum in New Iberia. Monsignor Ronald Broussard will officiate the services.

Mr. Russell Jr. is survived by his father, William Russell Sr. (Cathy) of New Iberia; mother, Gale Russell of New Iberia; one son, William Patrick Russell III of LaPlace; one daughter, Brittney Joreal Russell of LaPlace; three brothers, Ramon Russell (Kyla) of Lafayette, Patrick Mouton (Sonerka) of Houston and Bryan Latula of Sacramento, California; one godchild, Ried J. Russell and Kendale; two aunts, Mattie James and Theresa Broussard, Catherine Frilot and Anne Mae Robinson; one sister, Kimberlyn Russell of Dallas; five uncles, Raymond Broussard, James Russell (Geri), Rufus Russell (Susie), Edward Russell of Calera, Albama, and Richard Romain; two great-aunts, Willie Mae Porter and Mary Hebert; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was proceeded by his maternal grandparents, Lillie Mae Tauriac and Percy Broussard; paternal grandparents, Nancy Belizar Russell and James Russell Sr.; uncle Herman James Sr.; and aunt Mary Louise Merrill.

Active pallbearers will be Troy Broussard, Shannon Barlow, James Russell III, Brian Latulas, Chris Broussard, Eric Broussard, Larren Metz and Davis Merrill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon James, Patrick Mouton, Brian Livingston, Samuel Vital, Herman James Jr. and Kendall Shello.
