On Feb. 12, 1991, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ blessed Bertha “Tarrae” James and Oteda “Charles” Foster with a handsome baby boy named Tralin Wendrell James, also known as “Chevyboy,” or “Black” to his family and friends. Tralin departed this earth on Monday, May 23, 2016, by a tragic death. He was a native of New Iberia but a lifelong resident of LaPlace.
Tralin was a high school graduate of Liberty Christian Academy in LaPlace. There he received several awards including a scholarship in basketball. Choosing not to pursue it, he attended truck driving school where he received his CDL license. He began working for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in New Orleans. Tralin had been employed with Coca-Cola for eight years. He was also part of a Car Club Organization called Chevy Gang. It’s truly amazing to know Tralin. He touched so many lives in such a small way.
Tralin was a very bright, handsome and vibrant young man who lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. Although his earthly time was cut far too short, his infectious laugh, stunning smile and his love for life will be carried in the hearts of his loved ones.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his loving mother, Bertha “Tarrae” James of LaPlace; father, Mr. and Mrs. Oteda “Charles” Foster of New Iberia; step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Gregory “ Fat” Henry of New Iberia; his devoted grandmother, Audrey (Charles) Burke Sr. of Biloxi, Mississippi; sister, Tisha Henry of LaPlace; brother, Torey Evans of LaPlace; his children Taige James, Zaylen James, Kaislee Allison, Tra’Lyn Fabb, Tralin James Jr.,Ta’Neya James; godmother Candace “Eva” Comier and a host of aunts, uncles, family members and friends.
