Honors launch student for success

Cameron Simone Lavergne, granddaughter of Adam and Martha Pierre of St. Martinville, is a 2016 graduate with honors from Booker T. Washington High School and The High School for Engineering Profession of Houston Independent School District.

Lavergne was in the honor society for four years maintaining a 4.391 GPA while excelling in band and athletics, including basketball, softball, volleyball, track and golf.

She was awarded senior class female student of the year, and volunteers at her church and in the community.

Through hard work and persistence in her studies, trusting that God would help her to reach her goals, said a proud grandmother, Martha Pierre, Cameron received over one million dollars in scholarships. She will be attending Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas.

Pierre said her granddaughter has one wish, that others would follow in her footsteps, believing and trusting in God, hard work, consistency, setting goals high and dreaming big.
