Former District 3 city councilman David Broussard will be running again for the seat in the Nov. 8 election.

Broussard, a lifelong resident of New Iberia, has operated an insurance office for 30 years in New Iberia and currently works for the Iberia Parish School Board as a bus driver.

“I will work diligently with agencies such as the Iberia Industrial Development Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Iberia Parish Council, our local and state legislators, fellow city council members and the mayor focusing on creating new businesses and jobs and at the same time providing for the safety and needs of our citizens,” Broussard said in a prepared statement.

Broussard said he intends to continue to work with parish government and state DOTD officials to improve streets, intersections and railroad crossings. He said he will continue to push for more state and federal funds for roads and drainage projects.

Broussard is married to Marjorie Broussard and has one son and two daughters.
