- Rader seeking to be U.S. Rep for 3rd district
Jeanerette native Larry Rader has announced his bid in the 3rd Congressional District race for U.S. representative.
Rader, a registered Democrat, owns and operates an Allstate Insurance branch in New Iberia. He has also worked for many years in the oil and gas industry.
Rader cites family and religious values and protection of the Second Amendment as part of his platform.
“My district has been my home for most of my life,” Rader said in a prepared statement.
“I have ties to many companies and families through my insurance company. I want to see my neighbors, friends, and colleagues enjoy a happier life through better policies in Washington.”
According to Rader, diversifying our oil sources of supply away from OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is also important.
Other candidates who have announced for the vacant congressional seat includes Louisiana Public Service Commissioner and Breaux Bridge native Scott Angelle and former St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Clay Higgins.
