Every wedding is unique and distinct — just like the bride and groom. In the past, bridal announcements in The Daily Iberian have conformed to a standard form with very little deviation. Lists of family members in attendance or contributions to the wedding party as well as the dress and veil descriptions have been kept to a minimum. Words like nuptial mass or holy matrimony and designer names for dresses have been omitted.

Now, within reason, brides can submit their choice of narrative and have the option to include more than one picture. Or, as the Shea — Hanagriff wedding announcement above, the full-length picture is featured larger than the normal size with extensive personal descriptions in their own words. They are the first to take advantage of the custom bridal half-page layout.

Different Sizes and Prices

The Daily Iberian has enjoyed providing bridal announcements as a courtesy to its customers for many years, long after other area newspapers and the standard across the country started charging for submissions. The time finally arrived and the Teche Area newspaper is now joining the pack.

As of today, all bridal announcements for engagements and weddings have optional sizes and prices. Now even first anniversaries, 15 or 25 can have the option of celebrating with our readers by fees paid.

Wedding anniversary announcements for 50 years or more will continue to be published as a courtesy. Call 321-6734 with your questions.

Packages will include custom descriptions as well as sizes and number of pictures. We’ll still provide a form for anyone that is unsure about how to write their own editorial. Edits will be made as space dictates with customer approval. As long as the copy and photos fit within a specified space, the wedding party celebration will give readers a bird’s eye view of the festivities.

Layout Choices

Packages include specified number of pictures but for an additional processing fee of $10 per photo, the number in a layout can increase. Sizes are as follows.

WEDDING FULL PAGE — Couple uses up to seven photos and/or combination of longer wedding copy, or larger single/double photo for display. This could be used to tell the whole story from engagement to honeymoon. First three photos in price, $10 /photo additional — $500

WEDDING HALF PAGE — Couple uses up to five photos and/or combination of longer wedding copy, or larger single/double photo for display. First three photos in price, $10 /photo additional — $275

WEDDING QUARTER PAGE — Couple chooses to have longer wedding copy, large single photo or two photos for display — $150

WEDDING STANDARD — The two column standard with one photo will now be $80.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION — Noon Monday the week prior to requested Sunday publication. With paid announcements, layout must be approved before Wednesday at noon. Email or in office approval.

Marriage licenses, births and divorces are public records and will continue to be published as a courtesy as they are received from sources. Celebrations of births, graduation and home-going anniversaries can be any size display ad by the standard fee basis.
