A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Marie Blanchard Foreman Derouen, 92, who passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, in Jeanerette, with Father Bill Melancon serving as the celebrant.
Burial will follow Mass services in the Abshire Cemetery in Vermilion Parish.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A resident of New Iberia, Marie Blanchard Foreman Derouen was born on October 24, 1924, to the late Andre and Alexandrine Broussard Blanchard. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and was a former religion teacher. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her biological children, Nell Foreman Gauthier and husband Dickie of New Iberia; Linda Foreman Rabeaux of New Iberia; Cindy (Philip) Foreman Hudson of St. Martinville; Jeff (Ethel) Foreman of Loreauville; and Chris (Rachel) Foreman of Lafayette.
She is also survived by her stepchildren: Alvin Derouen Jr.; Tina (Carl) Derouen Deslatte of New Iberia; and Eva Derouen Moody of Houston.
She will be sadly missed by 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 21 step-great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doris Foreman, second husband, Alvin Derouen Sr., infant sons, David and Teddy Foreman, son, Jesse Foreman Sr., son, Daniel Foreman, son-in-law, Willie Rabeaux, sister, Eugenie “Jane” B. Gaspard, and brothers, Wallace Blanchard, and Lennis Blanchard.
Pallbearers will be Mike Rabeaux, Jim Foreman, Richie Gauthier, Timmy Rabeaux, Nicholas LeBlanc and Michael LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers include Anthony Foreman, Matthew Foreman and Patrick LeBlanc.
