A native of New Orleans and a resident of New Iberia, he passed away at 9:10 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at his residence.

Lynwood L. Legaux of New Iberia was the second child born to Clydel J. Legaux Sr. and Louise Gerard Legaux on November 13, 1944, in New Orleans. He was baptized at a young age and spent much time in Lucy, Louisiana. While in Lucy, he visited with grandparents, Arnold and Polemey Lebeouf Gerard, as his father was an enlisted serviceman in the U.S. Army and stationed in Hawaii for a time. As a youth, Lynwood was very quiet but loved to play basketball and various other sports.

Lynwood attended All Saints Elementary in Algiers and graduated from L.B. Landry High School. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1967 and served his time in Germany. Lynwood worked for Texaco Oil Company and Murphy Oil Company where he retired.

Lynwood was married to Brenda Thomas Legaux for the last 25 years. Lynwood has two daughters, Tinishia Legaux Washington of Chicago and Charlotte Legaux of Dallas, from a previous marriage.

After retiring, Lynwood enjoyed taking care of their sprawling property in New Iberia and spending time at their condo in Shreveport. He also loved traveling to their time-share in Florida and visiting casinos with his mother-in-law, Mrs. Valarie Thomas, along with other family members. Hosting family get-togethers was his specialty because Lynwood was always thrilled to see his family enjoying themselves.

Lynwood was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and older brother Clydel J. Legaux Jr. He is survived by his devoted, beloved wife, Brenda Thomas Legaux; two daughters, Tinishia Legaux Washington (Jared) of Chicago and Charlotte Legaux of Dallas; three stepdaughters, Sarita Gilmore of Houston, Lacey Anglin of Allen, Texas, and Shea Anglin of New Orleans; one stepson, Sean Harris of Houston; five brothers, Dalton Legaux (Maria), Stafford Legaux and Leslie Legaux all of New Orleans and Kenneth Legaux (Carol) and Gary Legaux (Mary) of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Gretchen Jones (Clifton) of New Orleans and Charlene Richard (Jeffrey) of Los Angeles; three brothers-in-law, John N.
